Total budget: 9.996.000 €

Website: www.compass4d.eu

Brief description

Seven European cities (Bordeaux, Copenhagen, Eindhoven-Helmond, Newcastle, Thessaloniki, Verona & Vigo) have joined forces with the objectives of substantially improving road safety, increasing energy efficiency and reducing level of congestions for road transport. In order to address these topics the cities and industrial partners will jointly implement three cooperative services, Forward Collision Warning, Red Light Violation Warning and Energy Efficient Intersection service. These services will be piloted over one year of real life driving.

Thessaloniki pilot site

The Compass4D services to be implemented in Thessaloniki are the following:

• Energy Efficient Intersection Service (EEIS)

• Road Hazard Warning (RHW)

Besides these two COMPASS4D cooperative services, the pilot services in Thessaloniki will also include:

• Energy efficient routes, user optimized routes and city optimized routes (routing suggestions to equipped drivers, towards reduced energy consumption and/or environmental benefits for the city.) This will be piloted both at the city centre by providing routing suggestions as alternatives to Tsimiski Street, before its entrance e.g. Egnatia Street, as well as for routes between the equipped intersections outside the city centre and within the city centre in both travel directions

• Cooperative technologies for improved travel time reliability

The role of INFOTRIP

Technology service provider for Thessaloniki pilot site. Adaptation of applications and backend systems to the Thessaloniki pilot site and installation of the field equipment (RSUs), the on-board equipment (tablets and telecommunication equipment), as well as the software and control centre hardware installation required for the Thessaloniki pilot site.

About

Project full title: Europe-Wide Platform for Connected Mobility Services

Acronym: MOBiNET

Duration: November 2012 – August 2016

Total budget: 15.600.000 €

Website: www.mobinet.eu

Brief description

MOBiNET will develop, deploy and operate the technical and organizational foundations of an open, multi-vendor platform for Europe-wide mobility services. Key MOBiNET innovations address the barriers to cooperative system-enabled service deployment, including the lack of harmonized services; availability of communication means; inaccessibility and incompatibility of transport-related data; fragmentation of end-user subscription and payment services; proprietary technologies in user devices; etc. MOBiNET will develop solutions for both business (B2B) users and end (B2C) users (drivers and travelers):

Trikala pilot site

A chosen set of MOBiNET services will be implemented, tested and deployed in the Trikala pilot. The use cases that will be tested in the Trikala pilot in order to show the feasibility of the MOBiNET platform in a real-life environment will be defined within the project (given also the fact that the services market is rapidly changing). An indicative list of services expected to be tested at the Trikala pilot are:

–      Multimodal travel planner

–      Parking search engine

The services will be tested by a variant of participating test population of around 20 professional drivers of the municipality fleet recruited for the test period

The role of INFOTRIP

Focus on the development of in-vehicle and co-modal services according to MOBiNET guidelines. B2B interfaces and distributed architecture of services coming from various service providers.
